Canterbury, NH- Two time Canaan Fair Speedway Prostock Champion, Zig Geno and his Zig Geno Motorsports team have submitted their registration for the late model division at White Mountain Motorsports Park and are setting their sites on a Championship in 2010. Excited about 2010, the team spent most of 2009 converting their prostock to a late model and after managing to get a couple of runs it at the end of the season to work out the bugs, the team had a real strong effort at White Mountain Motorsports Park last September, making the decision to come back and run for a championship an easy one.
Geno and company have a knack for points racing and believes that the ACT style late models will fit his driving style. No stranger to the ¼ mile high banked facility having run there in the early 90’s, Geno believes he will be right at home at “The Mountain”. “Donnie and Teri Avery have such a beautiful facility and it’s going to be fun getting back there. I have a lot of good memories there including my first heat win. Championships are great but you have to have fun too, and above everything else WE WANT TO HAVE FUN. When I talked to the racers that competed there almost every one of them talked about how much fun it was. Makes the decision to run there pretty easy doesn’t it?” Geno asked.
The Zig Geno Motorsports team is looking forward to a number of changes for 2010 and looks to return to one of its more popular paint schemes as well as a new number. “There will be a lot of changes this year. We have some new sponsors we are working on for the ’10 season and we are really happy to have Les Smith and his Green Mountain Racin’ back as our primary supporter as well as RTT ASSOCIATES, LLC. Les owns the engine in the car and without him we wouldn’t be racing. The biggest change though is going to be the number.” Geno said “I have had the number 57 since I began racing, but there is already a 57 in the late model division up there so we have to make a change and we are hoping to do something kind of neat with the new number that we will be announcing later, but suffice it to say 2010 marks the 25th year I have been involved with motorsports.”
The ZGM team has a solid core of friends and supporters that have been with the team for a number of years that will continue to prepare the car each and every week for the 41 year old driver from Canterbury. Geno says he has a good feeling for the upcoming season and if past performance is any indication he would be a contender for the 2010 championship.
